Beautifu. Touching.
from Louise Steinman:
dearest Majid,
yes I will share your moving poem… i am so relieved Wendy could dial the magic number with her left hand, and that you will continue with your life that includes her gazes, words, and kisses.
sending my love to you both---
from Naomi Shihab Nye:
Majid, please tell me more. Who had the stroke? One of my best friend's husbands just died of a stroke 3 days ago. I will send her this poem.
It is dated on my birthday. It makes me very sad! I hope it is not your beloved!
from Prof. Lawrence S.:
Please tell Majid that if hypertension (high blood pressure) is the problem (or one of them), for the person in the poem, that there are effective medicines one can take for high blood pressure. Then the poem's subject can be normotensive while enjoying what is savored, while not having to:
"Curse the salt!
Curse sausages and salami!
Curse burgers and pizza!
Curse every thing cured in salt!"
Just take the anti-hypertensive, as I do, as Jonathan does, and then enjoy, perhaps a pizza with all the toppings including sausage, salami, and some ground hamburger. A "full monty" of a pizza, to make anyone smile, unless you are a vegan.
And of course as another poet wrote and smiles or a truncation of that word,
"Smiles to go before I sleep
And smiles to go before I sleep".
You are right Prof. Lawrence S..
That's why my poem is ironic when in the last stanza it says: "...a saltless morsel..."
from Tom Lombardo:
I like this one a lot. Thanks for sending.
Best,
from Hamid:
Lovely poem majid jon, you are doing a great job in poeticizing your daily life and affairs.
I have a close family member who suffered a devastating stroke recently.
from Lillian Boraks Nemetz:
Beautiful poem, Majid. I will share it. Thank you.
from Nasrin:
thanks Majid jun. you have done a beautiful play with salt in this poem as an irony. i hope Wendy is getting better and you two live a long happy and healthy life together.
from Mike Simms the editor of Vox Populi:
Good poem, Majid! I’ve posted it to appear later.
Warmly,
Mike
