Dear Darius, may I ask what is your rational for disliking Golshiri? Personally, I like his style of writing and think highly of him as a researcher and pioneering new way of story telling in Persian literature plus his tremendous support of young Iranian writers, particularly those who lived in the war zone and later wrote about their experiences. 

 Dunno really ... I guess I suffer from the same blind rational which most deemed "pionneers" of that era ... often erected as  "role models" by BBC Persian, VOA Persian and other Diaspora Channels and websites ... also suffer from

I don't blame you for feeling this way since our recent history is full of such  "Antelektuals" and artists. I would like to believe that  despite of this huge void we still have a few shining stars such as Sepehri, Forough, Golshiri,....
