There's a cult of ignorance in the United States and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge".

The America of John McCain was shot down by the Viet Cong many decades ago...
The measure of America's greatness is the number of Commies/Tudeh eis/Islamists Marxists who have sought refuge in this great land in the past 40 years.
And the ones who could not get here, went to Canada and Europe.
Never mind the Commie part... There're, and their number is surprisingly high, those who had the option to go to the US of A, but wisely opted out... In my mixed circle, which include a fairly wide spectrum of all walks of life, from blue collar, to academics I have yet to see one who after many years, truly regrets her decision... I wonder why...
So I assume, now that Trump has made America great again, there will be an influx of Commies, etc. from Canada and Europe to the States!
For the first time I agree with Trump. Let's build a wall on the Canadian and the European borders!
"...those who had the option to go to the US of A, but wisely opted out....."
Now, this is called pissing in ones shoes and telling them it's raining!

A very good point.
