One Night I Will Return to My Birthplace

One night I will return to my birthplace
So that I can pick stars
From the rooftop of my home.

Father says: “Look, there!
Don’t you see the Seven Brothers?*”
I stretch my arms
And touch their naked swords.
Then , the nightly war starts.
We drive off the moon-eater dragon
And plant gilded flowers
In the dark corners of the sky.

At dawn, Mother says: “Look, there!
Don’t you see the Two sisters?*”
I stretch my arms
And touch their water jugs.
They are the messengers of rainy clouds
And disappear with the rise of the sun.

My brothers! My sisters!
One night I will return to my birthplace
So that under the sky of my childhood
I can find my stars again.

يك شب به زادگاهم باز خواهم گشت
 

یک شب به زادگاهم باز خواهم گشت
برای چیدن ستاره ها
از روی بامِ خانه ام.

پدر می گوید: "نگاه کن، آنجا!
هفت برادران* را نمی بینی؟"
من دستهایم را دراز می کنم
و به شمشیرهای برهنه شان دست می کشم.
آنگاه جنگِ شبانه آغاز می شود.
ما اژدهای ماهخوار را می رانیم
و در گوشه های تاریکِ آسمان
گُلمیخ های ستاره می کاریم.

در بامداد، مادر می گوید:"نگاه کن،
آنجا! دو خواهران* را نمی بینی؟"
من دستهایم را دراز می کنم
و به کوزه های آبشان دست می کشم.
آنها پیام آورِ ابرهای بارانخیزند
و با برآمدنِ آفتاب ناپدید می شوند.

برادرانم! خواهرانم!
یک شب به زادگاهم باز خواهم گشت
تا در زیر آسمانِ کودکیَم
ستارگانِ خود را بازیابم.
