I have a question that I need answered about Mohammad’s pedophilia.  Whenever that subject is brought up, Islam’s defenders respond by saying things like “well, back in those times people married young,” or “cultural rules were not as they are today,” etc.  Fair enough.  But we now know the adverse psychological—and physical--impacts on a child whose childhood and innocence is taken away by being exposed to sexual acts at a young age.  So, here’s the question:

If we now know these things, wouldn’t God, the Almighty, in his [literally] infinite wisdom have known the same thing 1400 years ago?  Moreover, wouldn’t God have told Mohammad about the adverse effects of his sexual desires and acts on this child?  Or was God waiting for us to discover these effects through modern medicine and modern psychology?  In that sense, God—and Mohammad by extension—come across as ignorant fools, or perhaps just simple assholes.  Maybe God knew about all these things and just “looked the other way” while Mohammad was having sex with a nine (or possibly a seven) year old child.

Can someone please resolve this conundrum for me?  Thanks.
