Did not vote since none of the choices fit my opinion.
You say pootat, I say potaatoo
This is a phenomena/practice that has existed in most if not all societies, primarily to improve the morale.
The US often has concerts, comedy shows and other activities for the soldiers, though we don’t know the behind the scenes stuff. During the Iran-Iraq war the food always got so much better and plentiful right before any major offensive attack.
What is noteworthy and perhaps a point of irritant, is the hypocrisy of these Islamic rulers that they practice the same act/behavior only calling it a different name and want us to pretend all is well. This is anything but new for them, “Sigheh” clearly a form of prostitution has been condoned and practice by these Muslim cleric forever and it is all OK yet they would not lose any opportunity to condemn others for the same act.

Married for a Minute
Is Iran's mullah-backed system of temporary marriage a godsend for the sexually frustrated—or religious prostitution?

The origins actually started with Mohammad's lover called Khadijeh!
Bavafa1:"The US often has concerts, comedy shows and other activities for the soldiers, though we don’t know the behind the scenes stuff"
Well, I dont believe that Bob Hope ever returned home pregnant after entertaining US combat troops! LOL
Hamal,
Perhaps Bob Hope was so undesirable that he was even rejected by the soldiers in need! LOL

Islam is a religion of peace and love--as our Muslim brothers have been demonstrating in Kenya and Pakistan in the past couple of days. They've been spreading that love in the Kenyan Mall and the Pakistani Church.
Yeah AO, but here we have Republican conservatives, and they are no different than the attackers in Kenya.
There are too many sex-deprived Muslim men out there!
They need to learn how to ask women out, buy them flowers, have romantic dinners with good wine and music, and the rest of it.
It is time to update Ghor'an to incorporate some romantic material!
True Amri jaan...I almost fogot that... :-)))))

من دارم سعی میکنم که یک نرمش قهرمانانه نشون بدم که شاید یک دوست پسر مسلمانی هم برای سوسن خانوم پیدا بشه که عاقبت بخیر شه و ما ها هم همگی راحت بشیم
I love your narmesh....Narmesh kon ...narmesh is the best kind:)))
I wish AO would show some heroic flexibility as well and woudl water the plants at the apartment that we are sharing in tel aviv...you know... a group of us who are serious advocates of bringing sexy shia muslims together with their jew counterparts.
Yeah man...it is your turn:)
I'm sorry my kind roomate. As you know, we have been quite busy with Yom Kippur, etc. Plus, I had to stop by Mossad and pick up my "Zionsit propaganda agent" check. I will water the plants when I get home tgoday.
Let's not be mistaken.
Nothing to do with "sex jihad". Has to do with the dismal state of the Tunisian economy and Ennahda, the islamist party in power. Fewer n fewer tourists, less n less work.
So, women do what they can. Pro or amateurs, they have to feed their family, pay the bills, etc. That's all there is. Using islam as the pretext is just for practical reasons.
In every war there has always been a "bataillon" of sex workers, more or less hidden, more or less discreet, depending on the country. Nothing new under the sun.
PS. did not vote.
On the one hand, it has nothing to do with islam. On the other hand, it's not about giving a bad name to islam. It's about ignorant people who misinterpret things.
This topic being about women, must add.
Saw women in my own country following UN battalions. Not all battalions, just those with money (French, Canadian, American, German).
Well, it's the same thing.
Sitting in front of your computer, not knowing what war and poverty is all about, it's easy to judge. Worse even, equate it with a particular religion.
Well, I've got news for you. Nothing to do with religion. It's about surviving.
At the time I was shocked myself. Until I understood.
Rea, you are wrong! Most of these women were quite wealthy. They did it for "Jihad", for "Islam".
One wonders how Hamal know these individuals so well to know not only about their financial situation but also their motives ?!?!?
Please share with us to put any and all doubts to rest.
Mehrdad
@hamal, I doubt I'm wrong.
There are certain things that do not change. Survival instinct is one of them.
I'm sad to see so many women demeaning comments. Some people here have never been hungry, obviously.
Rea , Your reasoning makes no sense. How could these women who were too poor to feed themselves found the money to pay for their travel to syria instead of selling their bodies in Tunisia?? And if these "Hungry women" had the money, Why did they not travel to Saudi Arabia or Dubai for their business instead of war torn Syria?
If you want to see women selling their bodies out of hunger, you need to travel no further than Islamic Republic of Iran. Have you ever been there???

First, never been to Iran.
Second, been to Tunisia. And this is about Tunisian women. En+, know them in France (not only French born, but Tunisian born too).
Third, your link is about a rich Saudi divorcee, nothing to do with Tunisian women.
I admit there may be some Tunisians brain-washed into "sex jihad", but very few of them. Majority are just trying to survive.
