IranWire:

Iran’s Education Ministry has announced that all schools nationwide will now start at 6 AM to help conserve electricity amid the country’s energy crisis.

Ministry spokesperson Ali Farhadi said the change follows a cabinet decision aimed at reducing strain on the national power grid during peak usage hours.

First-shift classes will run from 6 AM to 9:30 AM, with second-shift classes operating from 10 AM to 1 PM.

Farhadi acknowledged that the earlier start time may create challenges for working families but added that “cooperation is necessary given the difficult electricity supply conditions facing the country.”

The ministry explained that morning attendance helps reduce energy consumption by avoiding higher afternoon temperatures.

All end-of-term exams will also be scheduled between 6 AM and 1 PM to avoid peak electricity usage periods.
