It would be utterly misleading to deny the historic Persian/Arab animosity, as it would be to deny their inseparable and extensive cultural, linguistic and religious intermingling.

Prior to the 1979 revolution in Iran, The late Shah of Iran’s policy had established a mutually beneficial détente, which along with peace in Persian Gulf basin, had paved the way for more robust mutually beneficial relationships.

With overthrow of the Pahlavi and coming to power of the Islamist fascists - ”reformers” and all – the policy of exporting the revolution immediately established a state of animosity, which triggered Iraq’s invasion of Iran and the eight year bloody trench war in which Saddam was backed by almost all Arab countries.

Fast forward to today, Islamist fascists are at war in number of Arab countries including Syria, Yemen, and Iraq, and they’re ostracized by the overwhelming majority of the Arab governments.
