There is no throne for him to claim.
DK jaan, welcome to iroon.com.
It doesn't matter what he has or has not done. Since us Iranians are incapable of formualting our own futrue and destiny, we must accept that it would be others who would chose for us. In that light, if it is time for him to be "appointed", he will be - regardless.
I personally believe that it is time for Iran to try REAL democracy for size. Would a REAL democracy then confirm the claim that a refromed theocracy is what the people want? If Iranians are given a little bit of wiggle room (call it more "freedom"), would they be satisfied with a bunch of clerics ruling over them with stone age mentality? I dunno, do you?
DK Jaan,
A question for you. When and if Reza Pahlavi has a grandson, would that person become the next in line?
Question: When and if Reza Pahlavi has a grandson, would that person become the next in line?
Answer to Faramarz:
Faramaraz Jan interesting question.
Actually when Crown Prince Reza took his oath in Cairo on October 31st, 1980 he took it on the Constitution which his father Amended in the mid seventies allowing the Monarch (or first in line of succession) to name his or her successor. As such the late Shah named his wife the Shahbanou as Regent which meant that she would be head of state ( or head of the Dynasty) in case the Shah were to die before the Crown Prince's majority. So basically the Shahbanou was the head of the Dynasty for a few months after the Shah's demise which means that for a few months prior to the Crown Prince's oath as "roi de jure" (i.e: King apparent).
So basically if any of Crown Prince Reza's and Princess Yasmine's daughters were to have children (boy or girl) one possibility for the Crown Prince based on that Amended Constitution is to name his eldest daughter regent at some point in the future. It should be added that naming one's successor is a Royal Prerogative which actually doesn't even depend on the written constitution ... the head of the Royal house can name anyone he sees fit but once it is decided he cannot change. As such the Royal Succession laws would be respected and therefore the Crown Prince's grandson would be indeed entitled to the right to ascend the Pahlavi Throne upon restoration or at least to claim that right even if the Pahlavis were never to be restored as a ruling family.
So the Constitution has predicted such a possibility as a worse case scenario if the male heir doesn't have sons. The British have only recently modified the royal succession rules and so have the Swedish Royals as late as 1978 allowing first born girls to be named Crown Princess.
This has not yet been tested in Iran given the short history of the Iranian Constitutional movement during which neither the Qajar nor the Pahlavi Dynasty's were able to fully implement in practice at least much of the requirements as prescribed by the Constitution.
Now if none of the daughters have sons then that would delay that process to a second regency in which case other members of the Pahlavi Family may be tempted to claim their right to the throne in the order of succession ( for instance distant cousins). That is why the Crown Prince would be well advised to clarify his position in the future.
There is no hurry given that the family is still young and healthy but if the Constitutional Monarchists hope to play a role in a Post IRI Iran even if Iranians choose to have a Secular Republic the question of the Royal succession will appear vital cause otherwise to whom will they be pledging loyalty to as King or Queen apparent ? A Constitutional Party will need to have a designed monarch if they ever hope to promote the idea even through a political process in a Post IRI iran.
Interestingly in Serbia and Romania both Republics today there is a comeback of the Royals in the political sphere and that of a constitutionalist movement which aspire to restore the monarchy through a democratic process. Strangely enough it seems to be working since an important faction of the intelligentsia in particular have been seduced by the idea including in the case of Serbia the fillmaker Emir Kusturika who has joined Crown Prince Alexander's Royal Council and many historians are looking back at the record of these royal families which were destituted under the Communist rule.
So to make it short ... Yes if RP has a grandson ... that person would be the next in line but for that to be official it has to be during his lifetime if not he will have to name his daughter regent until she delivers a male offspring. Also for the anecdote Juan Carlos in Spain was not born in his country but in Rome Italy and he was only second in the order of succession because his own father never became king. So Spain Restored the Grandson of the former Monarch in 1975.
Hope this answers your question.

If as you say his dynasty has a rightful claim to the throne, I think the Iranian people should consider sending the Peacock Throne to him and settle this claim once and for all. He gets the throne and Iranians get a closure, leaving this period of Iran to the pages of history where it belongs.
The claim to the throne more and more sound like the claim of the land promised by god some thousand years ago.

I believe Reza Pahlavi is a good man and means well. he will be a good monarch in Denmark but in omatestan forget about it. He is not charesmatic and He simply lacks strong leadership quality required to run the show over there. (It's mideast it's not northern Europe) If there was a choice I would wait for his kids to be the monarch may be they will be more kickass.
Pahlavi dynasty came in at end of Iran.
MRP closed some doors on the prince. On a few occasions he expressed concern that the prince wouldn't be able to handle Iran. Weather or not a prophecy was self-fullfilled, MRP is having a hard time supplying the demand.
I can’t believe that I am reading this CRAP…..witnessing a group of self-defeating individuals, led by a paid hustler, on a day dream, bidding their biggest hopes and dreams put on a BIG loser like the “CLOWN” Prince. That my friends is SAD!
A kind of defeatist attitude and thinking that makes Mullahs very happy.....clearly indicating a group of people who are out of their minds, living in fantasy, divorced from reality and possibly on some kind of hallucinogenic drugs!
Folks, monarchy was first abolished by the edict of the Iranian revolution, when they throw out the corrupt monarch, M R Pahlavi, the tyrant traitor, and then by a referendum/plebiscite that confirmed that revocation by the vote of over 90%. So good luck to the followers of the CLOWN Prince.
Maybokhor,
I must sadly, and with outmost sorrow inform you that there is no Peacock Thrown left…it was most likely sold to the highest bidder by the corrupt, embezzling and thieving Pahlavi family!
Here is a question for all the folks in here:
What do you call a person who Mistakenly and under the influence of narcotics (LOL) believes that we are a bunch of paid crowed pushing for monarchy's return to iran, yet calls that process that led to the coming to power of the IRI, the most criminal and thuggish dynasty to have ever ruled the god-forsaken country of iran, A revolution that led to a democratic "referendum/Plebiscite"!!!
No really. What is the most proper name we can choose for such "unpaid" (which is hekuva lot worse than those paid ones),mentally deluded individuals who possess a paranoid mind.
Hmm...I guess i gave the answer away there...didn't i?:))
Doctor/Mohandes,
Once again you proved who you really are.....a blithering IDIOT! It looks as if you and people like, your Shahollahi/Hezbollah brethren, choose to live a life of lies, make beliefs, self-deception, and are on self-imposed amnesia (LOL).
Why the HELL don’t you want to wake up and smell the coffee…it is about time, although it has taken you and your dense compatriots ONLY 35 long years!
Having dim witted opponents, enemies, adversaries like you, brings the medieval thinking Akhoonds extreme sense confidence, joy, comfort, happiness, and make them feel ecstatic!
Hey, PJ.... wake up and smell the stench of theocracy......
P/J
I have as a matter of fact and i am not only smelling it, i am drinking some too.
It is really hilarious that a know-nothing, ignorant, happy-go-lucky dude / dudett like you, who has got nothing on him except for meaningless slogans and non-stop rants, would call those who are pushing for a practical solution , dim-witted and all those other words that you have had to look up in the dictionary...
Yeah,. why don't you stay in ur cushy home and work ur cushy jobs and enjoy all that democracy has to offer and let the iranian people do what they want to do and make their own decision.
You said it better than anyone possibly could…proving my point!
And you continue to not take your medication, getting more delusional than ever, thinking anyone who says anything is necessarily agreeing with you.
ok amoo joon. back to manghal and vafoor for you... boro haji beza bad biad
Doctor/Mohandes,
Once again you have done it, and I rest my case AGAIN!
LOL
You have "rested' all your life. I am not surprised this time around.
