Even If You Were Not

I want you,
as weary of the night needs the sleep

I seek you,
as thirsty lips in search of a drink

I am mesmerized by you,
as eyes of the dawn by the stars,
morning dew - by the sun

I am unsettled - as trees are in the wind,
cradled-dozy children in need of a rock

You are requisite,
as heartbeat is to the heart,
wings - as eagles fly

Even if you were not,
I would have created you,
like a mirage - created by fervent of desert

O my desire!
You are wanted - more than the answer
With a query like you, what need is there for an answer!

حتی اگر نباشی

می‌خواهمت چنانکه شب‌خسته خواب را
می‌جویمت چنانکه لب‌تشنه آب را
محو تُوام چنانکه ستاره به چشم صبح
یا شبنم سپیده‌دمان آفتاب را
بی‌تابم آنچنانکه درختان برای باد
یا کودکان خفته به گهواره تاب را
بایسته‌ای چنانکه تپیدن برای دل
یا آنچنانکه بال پریدن عقاب را
حتی اگر نباشی ، می‌آفرینمت
چونانکه التهاب بیابان سراب را
ای خواهشی که خواستنی تر ز پاسخی
با چون تو پرسشی چه نیازی جواب را
