Chommy doesn't need my thumbs up.......that's for the most fitting title.......

Here is a sample of items that made me choose the title for this picture:  1) Any criticism of west in general and US/UK in particular is interpreted as being pro IRI and not tolerated by overwhelming majority of contributors to this site.(OMoCttS). 2) any criticism of Pahlavi era is considered a positive point for IRI by (OMoCttS) 3) Palestinians are ALL considered to be terrorists by (OMoCttS) 4) Muslims are considered barbarians for believing in Quran but Jews are civilized for believing in Torah. Has anyone here bothered to read Torah? Right wing Jews are not much better than our own Hezbolaahis but Israel as a whole is a democratic country due to diversity and their belief in the value of healthy debate, something that we need to learn. We think calling our opponent a member of child pornography site is a sign of being witty and several members give it a thumbs up. it is called character assassination and it is a sign of how backwards we are as a society.  I recommend those members to read anything by Oscar Wilde to get an idea what being witty means. I can go on and on but for those who are willing to be impartial I think this will suffice.24/7 IRI bashing will only give us a very limited view of how the world really functions. There is no doubt that IRI is an illegitimate regime and has to go but are we doing anything to open up the debate in a civil way. A BIG NO is the answer. That being the case what makes us worthy of anything better than IRI? Let the verbal abuse begin......

I once wrote that we have the best opposition any regime would wish for.

Parade of meaningless flags but no one willing to say something in a civil way. That is the story of us Iranians. 

All I ask for is that you wait about 3 hours before bimping someone else's photo post off the site.  That's the very much debated photo posting etiquette of the site which I have learned to observe.  Mine was up for less than an hour before it was bumped off by this post.

I stopped checking how long the previous post was there since it happens to me too all the time, even by Mr. Javid himself, so I don't know what policy you are referring to when even the editor of the site is not obeying it. If you wish that I delete it and post it later, I'm at your service. 

No need to delete.  I always check and make sure that the post has been up for at least 3 hours before I post my photos.  That's all.

well, I just checked the previous posts under photo section and noticed that you posted your picture WITHIN THE SAME HOUR!!!! after the post by RedWine. At least I was not aware of such policy ( if there is one) but what is your explanation? And remember that you brought up the subject not I.

That is extremely odd.  I distinctly remember that I checked before posting, and the photo that was there was by "Oragnic Nutritionist" and it had been posted 18 hours earlier.  It's really strange that Red Wine's photo is listed.  There's a possibility that Red Wine and I posted the photos at the same time or within seconds of each other and mine came up on the site first.  But the photo that I saw before I posted mine was the one by the other user. Agian, not a big deal that I want to watse too much of my time  on.  

you have a point and it is completely understandable. the funny thing is that I get a red flag (not that I care) for bringing up a legitimate concern. It just shows how screwed up we are and proves to me yet one more time the reason IRI is still there.

Don't feel so bad.  Look at the video I posted above.  It's a dolphin kissing a dog, and someone hits a "thumbs down" on it.  I had suggested to JJ before to make the "thumbs down" function like it is on iranian.com, where the identity of the person flagging is shown.  This will cut down on a lot of abuse and personality driven red flags.  It will also proivde for a better dicussion, where people will actually voice their opinions--even the negative ones--without hiding behind the easy "thumbs down" thing.   

Forgive my ignorance but isn't Chomsky a commie? Why would I want to learn anything from him? He has nothing to say! I look at the communist countries and I see one disaster after another! I love America and I love the Shah! That's all that matters to me! Oh, I love Israel too!

No Sir, he is no Commie. As a matter of fact he believes with all its shortcoming the United States is still the free est country in the world.  I have seen many speakers who were in most part good but in my opinion 2 stand apart from the rest. Chomsky for his amazingly sharp mind and bombarding you with undeniable facts. I've been to many of his lectures since the 70's and never have seen him unprepared. Mind you a lot of hostile groups show up for his lectures, trying their damn best to embarrass him to no avail. The other person is Daniel Gilbert, professor of psychology at Harvard. it is just a pleasure listening to him and witness what a human mind is capable of achieving 

Chomsky is a lover of the islamist regime and therefore irrelevant!

Lover?!! Chomsky is a world famous linguist who thought at MIT. If anyone in the world knows what power words have it would be him. He is one of most important thinkers of 20th century (not my words but generally accepted term even by his critiques) His first and foremost argument is criticizing U.S. foreign policy. He is a strong proponent of anti war movement and believes U.S. foreign policy must be based on moral grounds and not the interest of multinational big corporations. He is well aware of power of U.S. media and how his words can be used out of context. If you live in the U.S. you must be familiar with the one liner quotes of politicians and scholars  used in the media that is in total contrast with the whole subject of discussion. All we need is Fox News showing fighter jets taking off to bomb our homeland and voice of Chomsky in the background to give it more justification. He is well aware of his position in the third world as the defender of oppressed people and is super careful on what words he uses. As for his connections with IRI, have you ever heard of him meeting with any officials or representatives of IRI? I know for fact that he has been invited to visit Iran on many occasions but he has declined them all. That is exactly what I meant when I said that we are preoccupied with IRI 24/7, think that the whole world revolves around us and have no sense of how the world politics actually functions. He is after the big fish and will not take his eyes off the target. Just visit YouTube to get an idea how to the point and factual he speaks.

Chomsky also said that the IRI was behind the Lockerbie bombing and that the US campaign in Afghanistan could place millions of lives at risk (whereas the reality is that life expectancy there has increased 17 years (!!!) just since the US helped the Afghans overthrow the Taleban). He is also known as an early denier of the Khmer Rouge genoicide. 

" He is one of most important thinkers of 20th century " you got to be kidding me.  I was happy to spectate till you came up with that gem.  He may be all that you describe but an original thinker he ain't.  It is very easy to "oppose" and therefore deceive. 

Oh I guess in a country that elects Dubaya then Chomsky may be seen as whatever but  I cannot remotely justify that statement. 

I've actually read a couple of his books and have been to a couple of his lectures while in college--mostly because they were free. :-)  I waited and spoke to him after the lecture--and told them I was Iranian-American.  We talked baout the Middle East a bit (nothing too detailed. There were a lot of other people waiting to talk to him), and he autographed his book for me.  He is a very smart individual.  I disagree with a lot of his points of view, and told him so when I spoke to him.  I told him he was naive about the true nature of the Iranian gov't.'s.  He didn't seem to like that comment too much.  He just kind of shrugged.  But he was polite and nice about it.
