IranWire:

Iranian authorities have arrested 26 more people in the southwestern city of Ahvaz on espionage charges, state media reported.

The arrests are part of what officials describe as a sweep against citizens accused of “spying for Israel” and other foreign intelligence services.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard stated that the new detainees in Ahvaz had connections with Israel’s Mossad, the CIA, and Britain’s MI6.

Official sources say more than 80 people have been arrested as part of what they call a network accused of “cooperation with Mossad" in the southern city.

The Karun Human Rights Organization reported that most detainees are civil and cultural activists opposed to the Islamic Republic and have no connection to the charges alleged by government officials.

Karun also reported that a quarantine ward at Ahvaz’s Sheiban Prison has been prepared for new detainees.

The organization said nearly 60 citizens have been arrested and transferred to this ward in recent days.

The rights group reported poor physical conditions among detainees, stating that most are in concerning condition due to torture.

Human rights activists say many of the arrests lack a transparent judicial process and carry a high risk of torture and forced confessions under pressure from security agencies.
