They were heros no doubt and they should not be forgotten. There were a lot of good men who got killed or died in 1980's who could have made a huge difference (Dr. Bakhtiar, General Oveisi, General Aryana, colonel Shahriar Shafigh,  and many others) sadly they are all gone and we are left with a vacume and lets hope our faith is not setteled in Poland because as you said the last polish guy screwed the region pretty bad.

But I’m not sure that if they had succeeded in eliminating Khomeini and his inner circle, they would have been able to change the course of history. The Iranians of that time period were in a rage and hell bent on destroying what was built by then.

It took lots of killings and the war with Iraq to bring some common sense to the Iranians. Even today, I’m not sure if they know what they want and how to go about getting it.   

MRX, There were others that worked in their own way including several you mention. Many, like pilots of the Royal Air Force fought valiantly against Iraq, despite hatred of the new regime. This group, understood better than anyone that the only solution was to terminate mollas early.

Faramarz, it is all guess work of course. I think eliminating Khomeini and gang would have stunted islamists early momentum, split slimists, and confused all planning and support from the West (Yazdi/Ghotbzadeh...) and regionals like Libya and Syria

A popular uprising is NOT led or popularized by BBC, not based in Neuf Le Chateau or other foreign location, not supported by Libya, Syria and Yasser I hope rots in hell Arafat, not orchestrated by Oil powers, and certainly not manipulated by an London and Paris residing SOB molla zadeh like Shariati.
