US President Donald Trump says he's told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he wants to reach a deal with Iran on its nuclear programme.

Posting on social media after meeting Netanyahu at the White House, Trump said he had insisted negotiations would continue.

He added nothing "definitive" has been reached but he hoped Iran would be “reasonable and responsible” this time.

The two leaders also discussed developments in Gaza and the wider region.

Netanyahu's been pushing for the talks between Washington and Tehran to be expanded to include issues he feels are important.
