Young Global Citizens

Marjan Neshat is currently starring in the Off Broadway play Wish You Were Here by Sanaz Toossi at Playwrights (extended thru June 5th).  This has definitely been her year as the lead actress in three back to back, Off Broadway plays written by female playwrights all about the Middle East.

Marjan won the The Sam Norkin Off-Broadway Award for her performances in Selling Kabul (Pulitzer Prize nomination for playwright Sylvia Khoury) and English.  "Marjan Neshat embodied disparate characters so fully that it was hard to recognize the single actor in the two roles. Whether in drama or comedy, Neshat mines the playwright's text for a vast panoply of emotions that yield vivid, intricate portrayals of the parts she undertakes."

Selling Kabul and English have both been nominated for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play.
