Iranian-American journalist Reza Valizadeh has criticized the Biden administration from Tehran's Evin Prison, accusing U.S. authorities of failing to take meaningful steps to address his detention in Iran.

In a phone message from prison, Valizadeh expressed frustration with the U.S. State Department's limited response to his case.

"The U.S. State Department, after releasing a statement about the illegality of my arrest and conviction by the Islamic Republic, has taken no effective action to follow up on my case," he said.

The former Radio Farda journalist was sentenced last year by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court to 10 years in prison.

According to his lawyer, the sentence includes additional restrictions: a two-year ban on living in Tehran and neighboring provinces, a travel ban, and prohibitions on political activities and political party membership.
