Obama has been one of the most effective US presidents in taming Iran. His stance against the excessive demands of the right wing Israelis is also commendable. He surely does not let the House of Saud and Likud to define the American foreign policy and that does not get him many friends.
Just in the Middle East, and not other places in Asia, Americas, Europe and Africa, Yemenis, Bahrainis, Iraqis, Syrians, Afghanis, Pakistanis …will argue with the notion that Islamist fascists have been tamed.
Obama is inherently a good man. But weak, confused and therefore not quite your Teddy Rosevelt or wisnton churchil!!! I blame this on his muslim upringing! Fortunately the whole process was overseen and directed away from a total disaster by tireless efforts of that great Israeli statesman, and t friend of Iranins and Americans, Mr Benjamin Netanyahu.
The question is now who is gona save the ass of Mullahs in 23 month time when Obama is out of office writing his memoires? :) :)
Let's not forget that it was the last US administration who paved the way for Iran's influence in the ME and beyond. As a result of Bush policies petro-dollars were flowing to Iran allowing IRI's nuclear armament to advance at full speed whilst US unilateral actions had lost her the European allies making it impossible for US to put any meaningful pressure on Iran. Obama has brought IRI to its knees by creating a powerful world coalition and by ensuring that sanctions are properly enforced. As you say, Sanctions Work, Obama get to it.
No argument about the previous administration and the more robust sanction policies adopted by the current one.
The problem is the mentality of no matter what the fascists do lets cut a deal. Obama’s own previous defense Secratery and twoCIA chiefs, among others, have said so as well. So have many Congress and U.S. Senators, Democrats as well as Republicans.
Now we are in the no end talk cycle with 700 million dollar a month pocket money for the fascists.
Islamist Fascists are on the march in Syria, Iraq, Bahrain, Yemen, Lebanon and …. This is undisputed and verifiable fact.
I am a big Obama fan, or I should say ex-fan. I just couldn’t wait for the previous guy to finish his term and vamoose. I wrote my very first blog on his departure, I was elated by Obama’s election and had high hopes, but little by little all his talking the talk has not translated into walking the walk.
Neither closing the Guantanamo, nor many other promises.
I know some like to portray any opposition to Obama’s policies to “right wingers” and the “warmongers” and “Jews” and Netanyahu and such other nonsense used by the rabid anti-Semites and lefties who cuddle the Islamist fascists and fascist lobbies like NIAC. But, there are issues here which cannot be swept under the rug by such cheap tactics.
When a ranking U.S. Senator, a Democrat, says publicly that it seems the administration is getting its talking point from Tehran, there is something seriously wrong which cannot be explained away with the usual “Jews done it”
Fred I don't know on what basis you make your assumptions. We all know these are very secret negotiations that no one with except of the negotiating team and the heads of negotiating states are aware of its details. Do not worry yourself about the Senators and CIA chiefs. I remember some of them were so wound up about the WMD in the hands of Sadam and then it all turned out to be lies. Truth is the last thing that the politicians worry about.
In absence of hard facts we all base our judgements on what news we get. Today Rouhani announced that the gap between Iran and the 5+1 is narrowing.

To me it only means one thing, IRI capitulated. IRI is desperate for an agreement and lifting of sanctions whilst US feels no urgency. IRI must have bent over to get the agreement. No doubt negotiations is about giving as well as taking and the IRI will get a few small carrots like the limited enrichment or the 700 million dollar but we both know that amount is a peanut for a country the size of Iran.
I don't know if in other places they use accusation and insults when someone criticise or support Obama, but am very glad that what we have here is a civil debate between people with different points of view.
No assumptions, just detailing the known facts. Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, .....On top of it all, the speeded up mutilations and executions in Iran.
I think not worrying about what Obama’s inner circle says is not prudent. Having secret negotiations with the fascists, which by the way, its biggest proponent and facilitator for secrecy was and is NIAC Lobby, is little comfort.
When South Africa Apartheid was under sanctions, no 700 million a month reward money was provided until they agreed to peacefully disband. Things don’t look good no matter how optimistically it is viewed.
