What we see today in the heights overlooking the slopes of the northern mountains of the port of Siraf, southern Iran, and scholars and researchers refer to it as stone graves, were not originally created for the purpose of creating graves and burials for the dead, but were rainwater harvesting ponds on the mountains overlooking the sea and the city to use rainwater as well as inject it into the ground and connect to the surface of the underground water table to strengthen the aquifers of that area and to harvest it downstream through wells drilled in stone layers.
