Tonight I Think of Trump
By Majid Naficy
Tonight I think of Trump
Who sits in the White House alone
Thinking of his defeat.
He is not the Shah
Who fled the Revolution
And never returned home.
He is not the Fuhrer
Who, in his bunker in Berlin,
Put a bullet to his head.
He is an outgoing president
Who must pick up the phone
And congratulate his rival.
May the Goddess of Liberty
Give him courage to do this
So that tolerance
Replaces hatred
And America becomes America again.

Such a powerful poem!
Lillian Boraks Nemetz:
Dear Majid
Your poem perfectly expresses
What is in the heart of the American people and
I remember Hitler
And my hope is for Mr. Trump
To find the humanity that
That was lost
Both in Iran and in Nazi Germany
Best
Lillian

Thank you, Magid!
I absolutely love your ability to combine richness, sparseness, and compassion in such a concise poem. You are a rare talent, myfriend! I was just. Going to ask you if I could share when I saw your note.
Stay safe, well and happy!
May it be so..
