Morons
If the top view of the Shahyad Monument to Monarchy, looks like a trap for Protest Marchers, well, it's a Duck.
Anti Iranian government protests almost always end up with the dumbest conclusion by naively fooled marchers, to march to the cleverly renamed Freedom (Azadi) Square. As if this specifically designed monument to (Absolute) Monarchy could ever reflect Freedom.
No surprise that EVERY SINGLE TIME they do, the result is nothing, occasionally another huge tragedy.
Instead, if Iranian protesters want to actually change Iran, they must scare away the cowardly snake's head. They must learn from what other successful protesters have done, and follow that strategy. They must march to Khamenei's house, sit down, sing songs and blow loud whistles.
Yes this is perilous. But not that perilous. Do not assume that even Iranian government authorities have the stomach to kill 10,000 people crammed into a small easily live streamed alleyway. Do not assume they can get the hundreds of trucks to that alley, to haul away the bodies. Do not assume they can get the necessary drivers to drive those trucks. Do not assume that the Iranian soldier is not an Iranian yearning to be free.
We all know the cowardice that Khamenei has repeatedly displayed, and it is the easiest bet, that once his beauty sleep is threatened, he will resign in less than 24 hours. The fear of his public lynching and likely real-time live-streamed dismemberment is that powerful.
The Power of Good Architecture
The Shahyad Monument was specifically designed by a famous architect (who shall remain unnamed in shame), as an enormous self aggrandizing egotisitical monument to Monarchy.
If you believe in Architecture, and you accept that an architect is able to build societal character and socially influential aspiration into a structure, then the Shahyad Monument is not the place to protest against Absolute Monarchy. The actual building is against you.
Cleverly renaming the Monument "Freedom" (Azadi), like the Islamic Republic did, does not diminish it's very real power as a structure that conveys subconscious submission to the apparent awesome Absolute Monarchy.
Iran is an Absolute Monarchy. Khamenei is a self appointed Absolute Monarch. He has illegally and illegitimately taken power for himself just like Reza Shah did. With debatably dubiously disastrous results.
What we know
The Shahyad monument was specifically comissioned by the Shah. The architect designed it to be a monument, that would compel the people to bow to their Monarchy. The architect commissioned was a good one. Apparently too good.
The very first action after Iran is finally Free from the infection of illegitimate Islamic Rule, should be to tear down this "Monument to Monstrosity".
Until then, we have to learn how to conduct a successful protest march first.
Shahyad Sqaure gathering is actually a wise move becasue when Trump bombs Khamenei's home no innocent Iroonie will get hurt!
Besides, Iroonies love Shahyad Square, the symbol of great era of civilized and prosperous Iran every one yearns for!
Feel free to go back to Iran and guide demonstrators as to where to go and what to do. Khamenis place is protected by goons and its just not him that needs to go its the whole system.
MRX: Why would I do that? Do I look like Jason Rezaian?
AmericaRules: The "System" collapses in on itslef when the head of the snake is eliminated and the inherent greed within the system chooses between staying and fighting over the corpse, or cashing out and running for the (Toronto) hills.
I am aslo not inventing this assuption. This is what happened when the Shah left.
Since we have done nothing but replace one Absolute Dictatorship for another, one would presumably expect the same results when it inevitably comes crashing down after 40 odd (very odd) years in power, as soon as the head of the snake is removed.
So in this case doing the exact same thing and expecting a different result, is merely just being Iroony.
So, I forgive you. ;)
Jason Rezian was a fat slob I hope you are not one! Point is we need people on the ground and on the streets not cyber generals.
