Paul Brand is joined by Special Correspondent for PBS News Hour, Leila Molana-Allen, and former Defence Secretary, Sir Michael Fallon, to discuss Joe Biden's latest comments on the Israel-Iran conflict.

President Biden has expressed that he hopes Israel’s recent strikes on Iran may signal an end to months of escalating conflict, as his administration intensifies its efforts to negotiate a ceasefire for both Gaza and Lebanon. "I hope this is the end," he remarked to reporters.

On Saturday, waves of Israeli fighter jets and drones launched a sustained assault on military targets across Iran, marking the first open confrontation after years of covert hostilities between the two countries.

Despite the attacks, Iranian officials downplayed the extent and impact of the incursion, while critics within Israel labeled the strikes as insufficient. Opposition leader Yair Lapid took to Twitter to criticise the operation, asserting that the Israeli military could have “exacted a higher price.”
