Either way, it is very sad to see this thriving so much in the US where information is literally at the fingertip of each person whereas in third world nations information/education is not so readily available for people.

Hey Bavafa, this ignorance is primarily fuelded by the religious right as well as those who believe that America has been "given away" to the "less worthy"!
It took 50 years, but the Supreme Court is as far right as it has been in decades paving the way for a theocracy to take root in this country for at least a good while. Couple that with the upcoming turning of the House and Senate to the Right and we'll have a shit show on our hand for the foreseeable future, so buckle up!
