Above is a playlist of 5 pieces by the Italian-educated Iranian baritone singer and actor Hossein Sarshar.  (The arrangement as a playlist is only available here, not on YouTube.)  Pre-revolution, Sarshar, who had won several opera awards in Italy, performed with the Tehran Symphony Orchestra as Iran's top opera singer.  His opera career ended with the demise of fine arts such as opera and ballet in the Islamic Republic.  His death in 1995, at the age of 61, was officially attributed to Alzheimer's and a car accident, while some opposition figures have claimed it as an instance of the notorious Chain Murders of dissident intellectuals.

The 1st clip is from his performance at the Shiraz Arts Festival.  The others are 1968 performances at Tehran's Hall of Culture, with Leili Sarkisian at the piano, corresponding to,

2) The Barber of Seville, 3) Toreador Song, 4) Rigolleto & 5) Dom Sébastien.
