Re: Workers’ activist Sharifeh Mohammadi
Your Excellency,
I learnt that your government judicial system has sentenced to death Mrs Sharifeh Mohammadi a worker activist on charges of being member of Komala a Kurdish opposition political party, which is banned in Iran. Mrs Mohammadi, her legal representative and family have rejected this accusation as an utterly fabricated scenario.
It's very disturbing that her family reported to the international media that your government security agencies tortured Mrs Sharifeh Mohammadi in Sanandaj Prison repeatedly.
According to the international human rights groups Islamic government in Iran executed 834 people, including 22 women. This barbaric act made your government number one in the world.
The Human Rights organisations report on Mrs Mohammadi indicated she has been subjected to harsh treatment in prison, including torture and trauma, no visit with her family specially with her young son, no communication with outside prison and keeping her in confined solitary.
The Islamic government Iran has cracked down the daily protests of workers, teachers, nurses, retirees, drivers and students. The unemployment and inflation are skyrocketing. Poverty and class division is growing daily. Unions and trade organisations are outlawed in Iran. The right to protest is illegal in your country. In the past 4 decades your government turns their weapon against rightful protesters. During the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, your government killed, injured, arrested, tortured and executed thousands of people. Iran is in the bottom of the international index for freedom of expression.
The Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union (CFMEU) strongly condemns Mrs Sahrifeh Mohammadi’s execution sentence. We believe she is the victim of the Iranian government crackdown on workers, the freedom to be organised and freedom to protest. The CFMEU demand Mrs Sharifeh Mohammmadi’s immediate release. The CFMEU also urges the Islamic Government in Iran to respect workers’ rights to create their organisations freely and protest without fears of persecution and intimidation.
Yours sincerely,
