Hanging out with archaeologist Pierre Kradolfer is always fascinating. This time he spotted a fake artifact. On Sunday he took us to Lima's Museum of Art (MALI), a palacial building designed by Gustav Eiffel, the same man who built the Eiffel Tower. The museum's giant poster in front of the building features a pre-Colombian clay figure depicting a soldier looking beyond. But as soon as Pierre looked at it, he was sure it was a fake. The colors simply don't look hundreds of years old, he says. Now he plans to meet with a museum official to argue his case. Other than that, the museum houses some amazing works stretching thousands of years up to contemporary times. Enjoy!
