The crowd swells one way then another. It plays with my emotions against my judgment and I say this because it's not cool heads that preserve but the possibility of a future based on nostalgia, over there as in here, and the little hairs on the back of my neck stand up in both awe and warning. If it's bad here why not there? Remember when the idea of greed won over sharing everywhere? Remember (only theoretically because it's too long ago now) when the pamphlet said "Look at these faces and you know where you belong"? There is a keyword in there, belong. When you belong, you exclude. When you exclude you build first fences then you top them with barbed wire and drones and what have you, the inside very different from the outside, regardless of whom is where.
Now that AI is bombarding me with very beautiful women singing marching songs and waving the same flag, bare chested, as Delacroix painted (with different colours though) and I hum these same songs, they are beautifully written and this matters, now that we have them cornered and exposed for the vampires that they are, the way the light catches them as they're tearing into children in the dark corner of the jail, I say to myself, being me, wait a minute. Let's step back and try to not be manipulated once again into the wrong bargain. We've seen this sleigh of hands too many times. I mean I almost chimed in the last time when Dee pulled back on just gut feeling.
What we want no one has. Look around you. Do you see it anywhere? I know nothing, but I don't like causes that suspend your humanity. I know this is not an answer. I know being old you cherish every little being, and want to sidestep instead of continuing on your heavy walk, uninterrupted. Whenever there is this chorus of agreement, that's when bells should go off.
