Why would Renault name their new car after the Qajars?

They are koskhol. Simple as that. (50%)

Sentimental attachment to the Iranian market (0%)

A tribute to Mozafareddin Shah for buying a Renault (50%)

Mazda and Nissan did it. So what? (0%)

None of the above... The name naturally comes out of the fact that Renault didn't have sufficient fund, and had to let go of half of their manufacturing building to borrow the money... You can't go more Qajar than that...
