If you didn't know, looking at these pictures will make you believe you were in a different century, on a different planet, not in a country that prides itself for its 'ancient civilization'.
Some of these very people may have been out on the streets demanding change 34 years ago. I wonder how they feel about their revolution now?
Sad. There is a lot of poverty, but this is stinkingly and dangerously worse.

Was oil revenue shared with the local people? Probably not!
