What we’ve been undergoing to a large extent is a form of psychological abuse, actually, by very narcissistic, hegemonic governments and officials for a very long time. It’s a form of gas lighting where actually our own faith in our ability to judge a situation, and to some extent even our own identity, has been eroded and damaged to the point where we’re effectively accepting their version of reality.

Gran Torino
Have "you won some victory for humanity," if you win a gold medal in curling? There are tens of thousands of people worldwide who go through their lives trying to do just that.
I used to think baseball was the most boring game until I came across curling. But I guess if the world needs comedians, why not baseballers or curlers.
