IranWire:

Inmates at Greater Tehran Prison have been without access to fresh drinking water for three days, according to information received by IranWire.

The prison’s water supply is not safe for drinking. Prisoners use it to make tea and prepare food but must purchase bottled water from the prison store for drinking.

Sources say the prison store has run out of bottled water, leaving inmates without any access to drinking water for the past three days.

The water shortage follows the transfer of some prisoners from several wards of Evin Prison to Greater Tehran Prison (Fashafoyeh), after Israel’s attack on Evin.

Iran’s judiciary spokesman announced on Sunday that 71 people were killed in the attack.

Asghar Jahangir said the casualties included prison administrative staff, conscript soldiers, convicted prisoners, family members of inmates, and civilians living near the prison.

These figures were released amid a lack of communication from authorities about the condition of prisoners since the attack.

Families have received no clear updates on the inmates’ well-being.

Some have reported that many prisoners are suffering from various illnesses and were not allowed to bring medication during the transfer, further deepening concerns.

Phone contact between Evin prisoners and their families has been severely disrupted since the attack.

According to IranWire sources, many families who sought information following the Israeli strike were threatened by security agencies and told to remain silent.

IranWire also understands that while many prisoners have been transferred to Fashafoyeh, Qezelhesar, and Qarchak prisons, some remain at Evin.

Social media users repeatedly post the names of prisoners whose families have had no news of them, demanding accountability from judiciary officials and prison authorities.
