Disturbing news from the Iran: The former Bundesliga star Ashkan Dejagah (36) is currently not allowed to leave the country.

Dejagah has been under contract with Iranian professional club Foolad FC since July 2022, where he actually wanted to end his career slowly.

During a visit to Berlin in November, the professional soccer player took part in a protest rally against the Iranian regime at the Brandenburg Gate, according to “Deutsche Welle”.

As his adviser Reza Fazeli announced on Twitter, his passport was immediately confiscated upon his return to Iran and he was banned from leaving the country. For this reason, the striker was not allowed to take part in one of his team’s training camps in Dubai.

Fazeli gives the reason for the punishment that the 36-year-old expressed his condolences to the relatives of the people recently killed by the mullahs’ regime.

Ashkan was born on July 5, 1986 in Tehran, but moved to Berlin with his family when he was a child. Here he belonged to the legendary youth section of the Reinickendorf Foxes and performed magic alongside Kevin-Prince Boateng (35), Änis Ben-Hatira (34) and Chinedu Ede (35).

This was followed by the change to the old lady, where he went through all the youth departments. He played a total of 32 games for the pros before moving to Wolfsburg in the summer of 2007, where two years later he became German champion under Felix Magath (69).

The winger played for the German national team up to the U21 level before deciding in 2012 to play for Iran, with whom he took part in two World Cups in 2014 and 2018. At times he even wore the captain’s armband.

The Iranian soccer professional Amir Nasr-Azadani (26) was hit even worse than Ashkan Dejagah. According to a report by Deutsche Welle, the former U21 international of Iran is even threatened with execution.

For this reason, several football stars, such as the Uruguayans Diego Godin (36) and Luis Suarez (35) or the Colombian international Radamel Falcao (36), have shown solidarity with Nasr-Azadani. Pop superstar Shakira (45) also took sides with the 26-year-old on Twitter.
