Between January and December 2025, 2,636 migrants from the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in Europe by sea and by land, representing 2 per cent of total arrivals to Europe during the year, and registering an 11 per cent increase compared to the number registered in 2024. Iranian nationals are registered at arrival mainly on the Central and Eastern Mediterranean routes to Europe – 64 per cent arrived in Italy, and 29 per cent arrived in Greece in 2025. The remaining 8 per cent arrived in Cyprus (6%) and Bulgaria (2%).

This data snapshot provides a profile of Iranian nationals arriving in Europe via Greece and transiting through the Western Balkans (WB), based on surveys collected by DTM in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Greece, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia in 2025.
