Iranwire:

Iranian authorities have forced families to sign pledges barring them from speaking publicly about relatives killed in an Israeli airstrike on Tehran's Evin Prison.

They also ordered that the victims be buried in a state-designated section of a cemetery, according to family members and witnesses.

The June 23 strike, which occurred during a 12-day war between Israel and Iran, killed 79 people at the notorious prison, according to judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir.

The victims included administrative staff, guards, prisoners, relatives of prisoners, and nearby residents.

Authorities quickly blocked roads leading to Evin Prison after the attack, just as they had during a 2021 fire that killed at least four inmates.

Families searching for loved ones were prevented from gathering by plainclothes security forces.

"Officers told us to go home and wait. 'We will call you,' they said," one family member told IranWire.
