CNN's Christiane Amanpour's indirect support of the Islamic Reoublic's lobbyists is no secret. She and NIAC have been bedfellows for years and have been guests of hers on CNN despite NIAC's well documented lobbying efforts to put a good face on Tehran's genocidal regime. In the aftermath of the Munich Security Conference during which Amanpour seemed to be criticizing the Prince's monarchist supporters of intolerant behavior ( Well given the wide number of people who showed up worldwide and in Munich in particular I guess that makes One Million "intolerant" Monarchists abroad ) without ever mentioning the huge number of the Islamic regime's victims who were arrested, tortured or executed for merely expressing their rights and chanting the subversive pro monarchy slogans like "Javid Shah", 'Reza Shad Roohat Shad' or "Een Akhareen Nabardeh Pahlavi Bar Meegardeh". But what probably annoyed many was what Amanpour posted in her instagram account where she seemed to be downplaying the Prince calling him a "pretender" to the throne and "self-proclaimed" leader of the opposition. Yet time and Again the Prince has clearly stated that he is merely responding to the slogans on the streets asking him to lead the transition from the Islamic Republic to a secular democracy ( Republic or Constitutional Monarchy) upon an internationally supervised referandum. The Prince has also spoken against attacksor use of violence from across the Iranian political landscape. To reduce ALL monarchists to marginal incidents here and there is dishonest. Emotions are high amongst Iranians particularly since the massacres in Iran by a regime which Mrs. Amanpour as well as Trita Parsi tried for years to present as "reformable".

I do not endorse the insults towards Mrs. Amanpour in the following instagram video:

But I do understand the frustration. The likes of Trita Parsi who is now Vice President of the Quincy Institute (having left NIAC to Jamal Abdi), CNN's Fareed Zakaria and many of CNN's Tehran correspondents have made Iranians lose precious time and innocent lives in the process without EVER being held accountable for their persistent support for the regime.

Here is Canadian Iranian Journalist Jian Ghomeishi's take on the Amanpour Controversy : Instagram video here

Below Parsi's tweet in support of Mrs. Amanpour ( Notice he never mentions the Iranian regime - but the "security establishment " in Tehran- which despite all the crimes it has carried out he still considers more legitimate than the opposition) :

"This is so profoundly sad and embarrassing.

At Munich, @amanpour interviewed the son of the former Shah and pressed him (very gently imo) on the fact that his supporters were attacking anyone - including political prisoners in Iran - who didn't throw their support behind him. Amanpour called it "terrifying."

Almost to prove her point, supporters of the son of the Shah confronted Amanpour a day or so later and hurled profanities and insults at her. Accusing her of being a supporter of the Iranian theocracy simply for asking a slightly challenging question of the son of the Shah.

Despite his soft words in interviews with Western media, Pahlavi is not even trying to convince Iranians that he and his movement are democratically minded. He is only seeking their submission.

This is the tragedy of Iran today. The three political groupings that are the most organized - the security establishment in Tehran, the Mujahedin, and the Monarchists - are all profoundly undemocratic."
