University of Tehran Students Continue Protests Over Student's Death

IranWire: Students at the University of Tehran held their fourth consecutive day of protests on Monday following the killing of student Amir Mohammad Khaleghi.

Demonstrators gathered at the central campus and the Art University, chanting slogans criticizing the police for their absence in campus security while maintaining a heavy presence for hijab enforcement.

Art University students released a statement calling Khaleghi’s death “not an accident, but the result of years of irresponsibility, indifference, and suppression of student demands.”

They cited ongoing concerns about unsafe campus routes and the risks of nighttime travel.

On Sunday, students protested university officials’ failure to ensure student safety.

Similar demonstrations took place at Tarbiat Modares University, where students demanded improved security on the streets surrounding campus rather than increased internal security measures.

Students at Shahid Beheshti University showed solidarity by posting messages in support of the protests.

During Friday’s sit-in at Tehran University dormitories, security forces briefly detained four students, who were later released following pressure from students.
