Definitely good heart and the right place. But her tone of voice had less to do with a short military intervention than a chronic anti-US sentiment - a legacy of the post-1953 era of the botched Iranian leftism. The post-Mashrutiat internationalism forever shifted the focus of Iranian struggle for civil rights, modernity and secularism to anti-west/US hysteria. Interesting to see once again the convergence of the entire gamut of the left from pro-Soviets to Maoist factions (albeit all nearing their 9th decade of life!) against any foreign help and intervention including sanctions on economic and military mafia. Her sentiments are a minuscule part of the debris of 100 years of propaganda machine even after the Soviet collapse debacle.
I am surprise to see some people still stiuck to idea of f leftists in 60/s and 70's . The idea which led to misery, poverty and disgrace of our people for 40+ years.
This kind of thinking is NOT limited to Iranian coumunity. I am dealing with them on YouTube channel comment section every day. They are from different nationalities, but mostly from Middle East. They are still carrying the label of "puppet" for anyone who is pro western, democratic society. On the other hand, they view unshaved, smelly Islamists as "hero" or "independant" because of their status quo against western world.
I think to understand Golshifteh Farahani better, we should look at her relationship with her father who was her life time role model. A Father who was looking at former Soviet Union as a Utopia or ultimate place of peoples happiness. He has been, like any other father in the family, source of inspreration and reliability. it is difficult to let the old habbit goes away.
Ideally the best long-term outcome for the Iranian people isthat they rid themselves of the IRI rather than owe favors to the US or Israel.
The problem is that because Iranians and specifically Iranian women appear to be enfatuated with what a common actor thinks, they can't think straight enough to prioritize their outrage.
To be clear, actors, musicians, artists, poets, writers, while useful in drawing attention to a cause, rarely make good revolutionaries.
