Life can go on without celebrating occasions. Technology can solve problems and provide niceties and nourishment. Education and ethics can support law and order. But without faith, it is hard to maintain hope.

So cheers to Norooz and to Easter, even if we are not Zoroastrian or Christian. Cheers to your good health and happiness, even if we are getting older and weaker. Drinks to your hopeful heart that has faith in peace and love, even in places where those are harder to find.

Happy turning be upon us, realizing that we have not failed, that we have not let ourselves down or our poor silly friends down, nor the fellow humans down. And that the faith in us has not deserted us, even at the moments of great doubt and anguish.
