The Trump administration in the US is facing allegations that top security officials accidentally shared classified information about war plans with a journalist on Signal - a publicly available messaging app. The editor of The Atlantic magazine, Jeffrey Goldberg, says he was inadvertently added to a group chat with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz. He was then privy to discussions about US airstrikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen just hours before they were carried out. The National Security Council has said the chat appears authentic and has called for an investigation. We get some analysis from William Glucroft, deputy editor of The Parliament Magazine, and from Luca Trenta, an expert in intelligence and covert operations at Swansea University.
