There has been a marked increase in the number of dual national Iranians traveling to Iran being taken hostage.

As Reuters reports today, it is no longer limited to Iranian-Americans, dual national Iranians from Europe are targeted as well.

Reuters report says: “Detainees’ relatives and lawyers said the Guards were using them as bargaining chips in international relations and to put off European firms that sought business in Iran after the government agreed the deal with world powers to lift sanctions.”

Although falling for the old “reformist” and non-reformist Islamist fascist trap does not make sense, is contrary to past hostage taking and facts on the ground, whatever the reason, dual national Iranians traveling to Iran, beware.
