A Palestinian journalist has been shot and killed near her home in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank.

The family of Shatha Sabbagh says she was walking to a grocery store, when a shot was fired from the direction of a Palestinian Authority (PA) security post.

In a statement, a PA spokesman said there were no personnel in the area at the time.

It comes just days after battles between the Palestinian Authority and fighters in Jenin.

The PA says its operation aims to root out what it calls lawless elements.

Journalist Nida Ibrahim has more from Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank.
