A 73-year-old pensioner has been unmasked as the Israeli citizen arrested on suspicion of plotting to kill Benjamin Netanyahu in a plan devised by Iran.

Israeli security services said they arrested Moti Maman in August after he attended two meetings in Iran asked him to assassinate the Israeli prime minister.

Yoav Gallant, the defence minister, and Ronen Bar, head of the Shin Bet intelligence agency, were also discussed as targets.
