As a Staunch monarchist I am not only shocked but dismayed at the lack of protocol displayed during the funeral of a prominent member of the Royal family.
Watch Kayhan Report Here
As I suspected No Imperial Anthem was performed at Shahdokht Ashraf Pahlavi funeral in Monaco ...
Instead the political correct patriotic song "Ey Iran" which has been fed to us as the "national Anthem" by the same apologetic crowd of Mossadeghollahi and Jomhurykhah who have taken over the Diaspora medias since the upheavals of 2009.
Est ce pour ne pas choquer le Bourgeois Votre Majesté ? ...
The same lack of royal protocole was displayed during Prince Ali Reza's Ceremony in the US, not to "shock" those Diaspora IRanian Americans present.
The same hypocritical "Bee Hovyat" crowd of Iranian Americans so "careful" not to express staunch support for the return of the monarchy but love being photographed in the presence of their royal "Role Models" turned "Jomhurytkhah".
So fearful are they by how they could be percieved in the eyes and medias of their host country that they find it impossible to defend the concept of the monarchy they were born into, let alone explain to their offsprings born in the land of Thomas Paine and Benjamine Frankline or are too busy to decide who to vote for in the next American Presidential elections I suppose ..
Vaghea keh ...
So this is what is left of the shah's legacy: "Assodeh bekhab keh ma beedareem ? "
If this is not Self Denial "Par Excellence", I don't know what is ? ...
It is not only insulting to my generation but also to my experience as an IRanian expat that NOTHING absolutely NOTHING transpires in the commitment of this Royal family towards all those who often at the risk of their lives have genuinely and passionately defended the memory and political legacy of the Pahlavi Dynasty's most prominent figures.
To think that late Princess ' own Son Prince Shahriar Shafig sacrificed himself bravely for the Crown and that Anthem ...
The question that begs an answer is why the remaining Pahlavis are so neglectful of Royal protocol.
Yet contrary to Crown Prince Reza's website, the shah's half brother Shapour Gholam Reza's website not only insists on the Constitition of 1906 and the restoration of the Monarchy ( "Vive La Monarchie Constitutionelle") see here but proudly displays the Pahlavi Anthem.
Yet a princess was buried like a commoner essentially reduced to her activities as a "woman Rights activist" and "feminist" or to the royal offsprings as their sweet "auntie".
Not even the existing symbol of the Pahlavi's dynastic claim to the Peacock Throne bothered to turn up or to send a message during this ceremony.
Oops I forgot! There's no claim on the throne of the Pahlavis ...
"Presidential" hopeful, "citizen" Pahlavi, wouldn't upset his army of clueless advisers by breaking with his promises.
SHAME ! ... ETERNAL SHAME !
Excellent piece Darius jaan. I enquired of some worshippers of the Citizen Prince as to might have prevented His Citizenship from attending his royal auntie's funeral or memorial service. I was shocked to hear what I heared:"His Citizenship was busy saving Iran!!"
Great to see you back, Mr. Anglo Phile!
From the time I started reading Iranian.com after the green illusion, I remember Reza Pahlavi promoting Ey Iran anthem along with the lion & sun flag. I didn't see anything wrong with it. At the time I thought Reza was downplaying his kingship (and I was criticizing it). I couldn't believe he was downright denying it. So the problem is not Ey Iran. The problem is that who the hell is he promoting anything if he is not the king to be.
I agree with you on this and I didn't mind if the Imperial anthem was used for Ashraf funeral. That would seemed more elegant thing to do. But I don’t think there is any elegance left in them.
I have nothing against Imperial anthem 'in principal'. I just don't like that anthem and I much prefer Ey Iran. It is musically better... by far, and it is more popular… by far.
Good blog DK. May be we are expecting too much from this family. In any case I believe they have given up and they realize now that shahrvand is not getting any where, but not honoring their own blood correctly and respectfully that is indeed a shame.
Glad to meet you Mr 1bourbon1scotch1beer! I am sure we have met in the past but after all these years I need a shot tequila to jog my memory :)
Cheerio old chap.
Thanks for posting the funneral video. I wish I could attend the funneral. About Imperial anthem, I had the same question in my mind when I watching the video. May be someone who was in the funneral could explain the reason.
BTW,
It is good to see Anglo_Phile here.
