What would be a descriptive moniker in describing public persons who are simultaneously for and against an issue of outmost importance?

Here is an example:

Rudolph William Louis "Rudy" Giuliani publically supports the peoples Mujahedin of Iran, MKO, who are dedicated to the overthrow of the unreformable, warmongering Islamist fascists ruling over Iran.

Rudolph William Louis "Rudy" Giuliani publically supports Reza Zarrab, the accused money launderer who is dedicated to the preservation of the rule of the unreformable, warmongering Islamist fascists ruling over Iran.

In other words; Maryam Rajavi, Reza Zarrab & a prostitute named Rudy.

Sanction works, U.S. Senate, get to it.

Why it is wrong to call Ruddy Giuliani names.

1. In democracies law demands defendants or plaintiffs be represented by a defense attorney. US is a democracy and court procedures demand the defendant be represented by a defense attorney.

Note: The defendant or plaintiff may choose Pro se legal representation or self-representation.

2. Defending a case does not necessarily mean winning it.

3. If Giuliani doesn't take the case, someone else will. Or the judge will appoint a defense attorney.

4. By accepting cases in the courts of law, attorneys accept to legally advocate for their clients and are not necessarily emotionally involved in the case.

5. This is a business decision.

6. Lawyers are sworn in to do their jobs to the best of their ability.

7. While this case requires professional/legal expertise, defending a political organization is a personal/emotional/political choice.

Last but not least, many Iranians are working for stare-run institutions in Iran and their work benefits the regime, in one way or another. Should they all quit their jobs only because they don't agree with the policies of the regime.

Irving H. Picard, the court-appointed trustee seeking to recover funds for the victims of Bernard L. Madoff’s multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme, has been described as a modern-day Robin Hood. For nearly four years, he has been working to pay back those who were swindled by Mr. Madoff, some who lost their entire life savings.

Yet a look at recent court filings shows Mr. Picard has had much more success collecting money for himself and a dozen law firms and consultants than any victim of Mr. Madoff’s crime.

So far, Mr. Picard’s efforts have created a whopping $554 million in legal and other fees. How much have Mr. Madoff’s victims actually received from all of the cases and motions he’s made? Only $330 million. And how much does Mr. Picard estimate the fee spigot will pour out by 2014? A mere $1 billion.

At $850 an hour, Mr. Picard and his law firm, Baker & Hostetler, are starting to look more like the princes of the Full Employment Act for Lawyers than storybook heroes.

In the last several years, Mr. Picard has brought more than 1,000 cases seeking more than $100 billion on behalf of victims, despite acknowledging that only about $17.3 billion had actually been invested by customers. (The entire Ponzi scheme has been estimated to be worth $65 billion, but much of that is the result of made-up profits recorded by Mr. Madoff.)

Fred,

I am aware that Mr. Giuliani has received money from MKO.

However, this is a legal case involving an individual arrested and imprisoned in the US.

The legal system in the US permits lawyers to represent defendants or plaintiffs regardless of the case or nationality.

By simply accepting this case Rudy Giuliani is not supporting the regime in Iran.

Again, accepting this case does not necessarily mean winning it.

why him? why not someone else? Do you even think there was a process whereby qualified lawyers would step up and bid for the job?

How Rudy Giuliani got the case does not concern me at all.

And if you ever come across anyone who offered you the opportunity to make some real money and you didn't want to take advantage of that opportunity, let me know.

You are not answering my question Dear friend.

Why was this case given to Him and not anyone else. You claim that any lawyer coud have taken the case ragardless of his background, Fine, But did anyone step up and do we know how they were treated and why were they not allowed to take this case?

If you can't give me a convincing replies to any of the above issues, then it is perfectly logical to make the assumption that he was hired by non other than the IRI.

Doctor Jaan,

If I understand your hypothetical question correctly, it implies two things, 1. US courts are prone to corruption. 2. Continuity in the US foreign policy.

Here too it does not make any difference who represents the defendant simply because, in the overall scheme of things, I see this case as a very insignificant one.

P.S.

From what I have read, Giuliani is the best attorney RZ and Erdogan could wish for.

I respect your opinion, But that is not how i see it. It is not only about being the best, it is about having somebody who can make things happen for you, in the shortest possible time.
