Kodoom:

Democrat women, including several Iranian Americans (see list of nominees HERE), muslims and immigrants, blew a major defeat to President Trump's party in federal, state and local elections across the US. According to NPR, after yesterday's elections, a record number of women will serve in Congress come January 2019, at least 117 up from the current 107. Led by female candidates, Democrats also picked several governor, state and local seats from Republicans, including 12 in Texas.

In Orlando, Florida, Anna Eskamani was elected to Florida House District 47 becoming first elected Iranian-American to hold any elected office in the Sunshine state. Eskamani ran against Republican Stockton Reeves to replace Rep. Mike Miller in what was described as a hotly-contested race. District 47 includes Orlando and Winter Park.
