Well if you look at the earth quake map of the world, every place on earth is on the fault line with an exception of western Sahara in Africa which as you guessed no one lives there!

So I am not sure where a nuclear plant should be located on this earth. In nay case Busheher was chosen long time a go way before this regime came to power.

Dude, they've been wanting to build a highway between Chaloos and Tehran forever now (well, about 30 KM is built now), but corruption and dozdi hasn't allowed it to happen yet and you trust such rotten people to have built a nuclear power plant without cutting corners? 

Up to what magnitude earthquake can this reactor withstand shock short of spewing deadly radiations in the region? Magnitude 7, 8, ...!? The democratic prince of Saudi Arabia, MBS, in the 60 Minutes last night stated that he would get nukes if IRI developed one! Could serendipity come to the aid of MBS when a magnitude 8 earthquake hit Bushehr or would that be a regional catastrophe....!?

While this isn't about the desert kingdom that some Iranians have come to love recently, the reference to "democratic prince" is hilarious......

The bigger questions are: Nuclear plants are they good or not? are they needed or not?  now for the sake of argument let say the answers are Yes  , then where would you propose it to be build if not Bushehr? Tehran, isfahan, mashhad, Abadan where? like I said every where on the earth with an exception of North African Sahara is on the earth quake fault line.

Of course another answer would be no, nuclear reactors are not good and not needed, then that brings up anothe question why are they still around?  and why are more countries including U.S, UAE , Saudi  and many others are looking at them as an option now? why shouldn't we have a nuclear program of any kind if our neighbours are actively looking at it?

regimes may come and go every where including in Iran, so our thinking should be long term irrespective of who is in charge.

The question is not whether or not to build a nuke plant on a fault line (duh), but the integrity of those who build such installations.

I don't know how we can measure integrity of people who build these installations.  how do we know if they are or have done a good job or not?  I am sure a lot of money went to corruption and waste (Happens in every major infrarsturctre project in every country and ours is not exception). we had nuclear plants issues and failures in many places U.S, Russia, Japan, Britain that's why I keep going back to basic question: Are nukes good or bad and start from there.

MRX, yes, there's corruption everywhere, but there are also checks and balances or countries where ethics are valued won't be where they are today. It's about individuals which are the make up the collective if most are rotten, so is the country.

In corrupt societies, "checks and balances" resemble the Fox Gaurding the Henshouse!

Bottom line: Nukes and mullahs should not be mixed.
