Few hours ago the autonomous Kurdish government in northern Iraq concluded a historic referendum on a path to independence.

What the future has for Iraq, a country haphazardly cobbled together by the colonial powers after the demise of the Ottoman Empire post WWI is not the point of this short write-up.

Given the brutal nature of the warmongering Islamist fascism ruling over Iran, the very real danger of Iraqi Kurdistan’s independence seeping into Iranian Kurdistan cannot be discounted.

Those who are knowledgeable about the region and aspire for peace know any secessionist movement in Iran aside being godsend to the Islamist fascists, it is the seed for perpetual conflict and demise of any realistic hope for peace and tranquility in the vital Middle East region.

The published videos of Iranians in the Kurdish area of Iran celebrating the Iraqi Kurdistan’s independence move should sound the alarm for any and all who abhor war.

The only way out of this morass is to get rid of the unreformable, expansionist and warmongering Islamist fascism in Iran, the alternative is unfathomable.

Airtight sanctions, a la against the despicable South Africa apartheid, works. U.S. lawmakers get to it.

Picture above; like thousands upon thousands of other Iranians in the Kurdish region of Iran where abject poverty and lack of work is rampant, an elderly Iranian woman is forced to earn a meager living by acting as a mule to ferry goods over the mountains from the affluent Iraq Kurdistan into Iran.
