Paella, Paella Te quiero Paella

Paella, Paella Te quiero Paella... Meanin' I love you Paella...

My last days in Spain... spanish Mediterranean coast and eatin' Paella with good young white spanish wine.

Picture:

Left one is Seafood and mixed paella, On the Mediterranean coast, Valencians used seafood instead of meat and beans to make paella. Valencians regard this recipe as authentic as well. In this recipe, the seafood is served in the shell.

Right one is Arròs negre, This is a Valencian and Catalan dish made with cuttlefish (or squid) and rice, somewhat similar to seafood paella, Arròs negre should not be confused with black rice, the collective name for several cultivars of heirloom rice that have a naturally dark color.

Both of them were so delicious.

I am ready for Venice Carnival 2014

I'm going to Venice festival, In this photo you can see my mask and my special dress for this event.

The Carnival of Venice (Carnevale di Venezia) is an annual festival, held in Venice, Italy. The first documented sources mentioning the use of masks in Venice can be found as far back as the 13th century.

Bruce Bahmani: My first virtual friend

Was he my first virtual friend? I think he was. This photo is from the summer of 1996 when I came to the Bay Area for a visit before I moved there. Bruce used to send me emails about what he thought about iranian.com soon after it was launched. And if you've followed Bruce's writings in the past decade and a half, you know he does not mince words. He'll tell you exactly what he thinks. But he's most sincere and that's why I always listened to him. I didn't always agree, but I listened. He was always helpful. Still is. Talk to him one afternoon and he'll give you a hundred original ideas many of them very good. His Rostam comic book series were just the tip of this man's iceberg. And he lovvvvves chelokabab. I think we've met more times at Iranian restaurants than anywhere else.

Good food & good red wine in little Paris

Last weekend i was in Bucharest (the capital of Romania, north of the lovely Danube) and i enjoyed good food & good red wine in there.

Little Paris is an alternative nickname for Bucharest, or Paris of the East. Architecture of Bucharest is like Paris, a mixture of medieval, neoclassical and art nouveau buildings. Lovely city.

In this picture you can see: iaurt cu Castraveti (Mast va Khiar), 3 types of soups (or Ciorba, consisting of various vegetables and meat), mana de Porc (hand of Porc, romanian style, 100% east of europe recipe) and romanian meat Dulma (dolmeh).

Romanian red wine (good color, light and fruity ) is the one of the best which i buy always for my private winery.

You should visit the little Paris very soon :).

Transformation of an 18-year-old in 1980

Transformation of an 18-year-old in 1980 ... I didn't need revolution or religion. I needed a psychiatrist. Shortly after graduating for Wurtzburg American High School in Germany, I went back to Iran. A year and a half after the revolution. I think the larger photo is when I went to visit my father's relatives in Shiraz. When the war broke out in September and I joined IRNA as a translator in March of 81, I was a different person. I was fully immersed in the revolution and become a practicing Muslim.
