Recently, I had the opportunity to get to know Ken R. In July of 1971 Ken moved with his family to Iran to work for Tavanir, an Iranian hydroelectric company which had a contract with Toronto Hydro, Ken's employer. Ken still has almost a thousand photos preserved on slides documenting his and his family's time in Iran and their experience adapting to the foreign yet extremely rich culture of Iran during the Shah's reign. The video presented here shows digitized versions of these slides, with descriptive narration by Ken and accompanied by elegant Iranian classical music. This video not only portrays Ken and his family's astonishing experience, but transports the viewer back over 40 years to Iran during the reign of the Shah, demonstrating the country's rich architecture, food, people, political situation and so much more.
