Great Big Story: At first glance, the village of Kandovan in Iran looks like simply a surreal rock formation. But as you get closer, you see doors and windows and people. The village is full of cave-like dwellings carved out of volcanic rocks in the foothills of Mount Sahand. People have been living here for 700 years, walking through alleys and climbing stairwells amidst rocks that look like they are melting.
