The survey assumes that Iran's future leader will be determined by the United States. If that is the case, why should Iranians even bother getting involved? If others are determining our fate we should just sit back and watch.
That is not true JJ. The survey asks who fits the role of Chalabi best. It is up to us not to fall for these false messiahs and reveal the nature of these facilitators. A true leader for Iranian masses should have the ability to understand the needs of the hard working men of the streets and rural areas of Iran. This understanding should unfortunately encompass the religious sensitivities of these masses in order to remove the monopoly excercised by the clergy in this field. And here there is a gap of Grand Canyon dimension between the opposition and the majority of Iranians inside the country.
Maryam Rajavi and Reza Pahlavi
Nazie Eftekhari works with Reza Pahlavi and is on the Board of Directors of PAAIA. I think voting for her is more than appropriate: http://www.irandemocraticunion.org/About-IDU/Leadership.
Rajavi Cult
The Rajavis aren't Iranian-American. It's why I didn't include them in this list.
The Iranian Chalabi doesn't have to be an Iranian American. Anyone who can play the role of Chalabi would do. Though in case of Libya or Egypt or Syria, America has backed away from choosing someone like Chalabi because that ended up backfiring and another failure in Iraq such as no WMD or cleansing Baath military officers who later fueled the insurgency, etc.
Hassan Daie
When someone mentions "Ahmed Chalabi" it usually implies a politician hand-picked by a foreign power, in this case the U.S. installing a head of state in Iraq after the invasion. But now it seems you are saying which of these characters would be best to govern Iran. Am I right? If so, again my answer is none. Not because I think they are not necessarily any good, but because I hardly know them.
No, this poll is definitely not about who would be best at governing Iran (and none of the comments feed that misconception). The common stereotype of Ahmad Chalabi is someone from the Diaspora who manipulates the US government to go to war with their native country. For instance, like this: http://articles.latimes.com/2007/nov/28/news/OE-WEISMAN28 and http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Backchannels/2012/0726/Manaf-Tlass-Being-groomed-as-the-Syrian-Ahmed-Chalabi. It's about who amongst the Iranian-American exiles is willing to manipulate the US government to overturn the Iranian government and install them (or their cohorts) in power.
Hassan Daie on behalf of MEK Cult
I don't think any Iranian is actively lobbying to try to convince Americans to go to war with Iran. There are many despicable characters, but show me one article by any of those on this survey to prove they are doing what Chalabi did before the Iraq war.
When asked at a recent meeting at the White House if they supported regime change, some of those listed voted that they would. Note, they weren't asked if they believed in Iranians changing their own government, but of "regime change", the same phrase used in connection with a U.S. military attack on Iraq: "The act, which Congress passed in 1998, made 'regime change' in Iraq an official priority of the U.S. government
JJJ Chalabi was the one who fed the imfamous yellow cake "intelligence" from Nigeria and W used it in his state of the union speech which led to Powell going to UN with his powerpoint presentation which led to a basis for war = Iraq's WMD. I don't think Chalabi advocated full military intervention, though I may be wrong and prior to Iraq war everyone at least in US thought it'd be a cake walk. Now same thing is being fed by Iranian Chalabis who say Iran is producing a nuclear weapon and other stuff to create the basis for an attack. Now whether or not US does it is another matter.
BTW which Iranian "celebrity" for lack of a better word, is advocating full war against Iran? I'm not talking about the anonymous users of i.com! Any recognizable name out there?
To me an “Iranian-Ahmad Chalabi” means, an Iranian who will sell his/her mother-land for personal gain and the typical buyers of our era are the Neo-cons and Israeli right wing powers. Based on this definition, I would think the highest seller would be the MEK cult but picking someone with a prettier face (one that has not been known to the Iranians). Hassan Dai would fit that criteria only he is way too dumb to pass as a leader. RP has also seem to have prob the auction time to time but I think his price is not as cheap as the above group, he may want something for the Iranian people as well which he might not get it. Mehrdad ....'Hambastegi' is one of the main key to victory
